Customize Your Learning with the New Learn Words App

No comments:
This app might be a game changer for all you language learning fans.

Some of my go-to apps for language practice are Memrise, Quizlet, and Duolingo.  I like each of these tools for different reasons.

I admit that I was I was a little apprehensive when I started reviewing this app.   I wondered what was going to set this app apart from the tools I already like and recommend.  Then I played with it for a while.  This is genius!

Here's what makes this language learning tool unique.  Let's say you have some very specific vocabulary that you want to learn.   (Or, in my case, let's say you have a page of vocabulary you want to magically appear within an app. so that your students can practice with it.)  Instead of taking the time to type it all into quizlet or memrise or your favorite language learning app, with Learn Words you can simply take a picture of your target vocabulary and voila! With a few simple steps the picture gets converted to “typed” words that can be configured into the app!  You can then practice with the language exercises to your heart's content. I love it!

Here’s what I did.  I took a picture of a page from the textbook that I’m using in my homeschool Spanish class. Within seconds all the words were uploaded into the app.  I added images in less than a minute and then was ready to use the app to practice the words.  This is such a time saver!

Not only that but I could create a beautiful PDF of my word list.  How awesome is that?!

Check out the little video I created showing how it works.

I think teachers and students alike will love this app.

One thing I'm excited to see coming soon on this app is the ability to share the list of words that you create.   I asked about this and it’s actually in the works!  This feature is supposed to be added by the end of the year!  Awesome!  I can’t wait to see what they do with it!   I am running a little homeschool Spanish class.  It will be great to share my list with my students!

Update!  The app has been updated to include the ability to share your word list with your students or the public.  Perfect!!

Below is a video explaining how to share your word lists.

*Full disclosure.  I am being provided with a small fee for an honest review of this app.

Review Body Parts and Practice the Phrase ¿Qué le falta?

2 comments:
Hi Everyone!

I've been kind of absent for a loooooooong time!  I went back to teaching full time high school Spanish for 2 years after a 6 year hiatus but I missed my own kids!  So we're back to homeschooling again.  But...I'm also teaching a small Spanish class at a co-op that we are part of.

I just can't seem to stay away from teaching Spanish!  I do love it!!

Anyway...

This week my class will again be practicing body parts in Spanish.

I'm bringing back this ¿Qué le falta? lesson plan that I did several years ago.  My students right now range in ages 8-11.  This was created for ages 4 through about 10-11.

First we'll review body parts.

Then I'll introduce the phrase ¿Qué le falta?  Students get a kick out of the missing body parts on the worksheet.

Anyone want the above body part Spanish worksheets for free?  Simply post this post on twitter or any social media, leave a comment and send me a message with the link to your post.
